Hells Canyon is one of the most remote places in the Pacific Northwest you can dare to venture in. It beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere is hard to find elsewhere. Its remoteness is overwhelming at first but once you get your first good breathe of fresh air it’s addicting.

Hells Canyon is the deepest gorge in North America, deeper than the Grand Canyon! It forms part of the Oregon-Idaho boundary, between the Seven Devils and Wallowa Mountains. The canyon is 125 miles long, 40 miles of which it is more than 1 mile deep. Depending upon the season, parts of the canyon are richly colored in shades of yellow, red, and orange, and in places the walls rise perpendicularly for several thousand feet. Hells Canyon is best described with pictures rather than words.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast or love to travel to unique places you will not be disappointed with your trip to Hells Canyon.

There are three ways you can access Hells Canyon; (1) Highway 86 from Baker City, Oregon (2) Highway 71 from Cambridge, Idaho (3) United States Forest Service Road #39 from Joseph, Oregon (paved and maintained June thru October, not open during the winter months). There is one gas station, one grocery store, and one restaurant in the Hells Canyon area. It is important that you have a full tank of gas and plan accordingly.
